Ramside Hall – Cathedral Course
Ramside Hall - Cathedral Course
The Cathedral Course was built by designer Jonathan Gaunt who named the holes from the 11th to the 14th 'Ramside's Amen Corner' as the par-three 12th bears an uncanny resemblance to its counterpart in Georgia.
Opened in 2014 Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club is now established as one of the best golf courses in North East England.

Ramside Hall – The cathedral course is found just beneath the picturesque North-Eastern villages of Belmont and Pittington, and only a short five-minute drive from the heart of Durham. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be fun. The layout is refreshingly diverse, presenting a variety of challenges that test different aspects of your game, keeping every round engaging and rewarding. Beyond the golf itself, the course winds through some of the North east’s most scenic countryside, offering stunning views views over the nearby farmland. Fpr in-land golf in the North East of England this course cannot be beaten and is an absolute treat for any golfer. The course also offers a £6m state of the art driving range facility, that will include that includes a bowling alley and a bar, along with double decker trackman bays installed that are soon to open.

At this golf weekend break in the UK...
What to expect at Ramside Hall Golf Club.
Course Overview:
The course offers an alternative test to the Prince Bishop's. Although the water hazards continue, the course plays far longer and more unjulatingng weaving through the hills Durham'c countryside has to offer. This makes for a tough test with awkward stances, and managing the altering yardages created by the changes in elevation.
The course takes off in an opposing direction to the Prince Bishop's and gives off more of a rural feel as the course runs out towards the scenic hills of the surroudning area.
The Cathedral course cannot be spoken about without mentioning Ramside's very own "Amen Corner." The corner begins with the scenic downhill par 3 12th, and with water short, the tee shor demands an impressive amount of distance control just like the original Amen Corner of Augusta. The course then arcs back towards the clubhouse. finsihing with two hugely challenging holes. The long 17th demands a dead straight drive. Failure to do this will lead to a wet finish to the round. The long par 3 18th enhances this challenging finale, wit more water short, and the clubhouse left, the only bail out could be long right. Best of luck...
Following the round, there would be no better way to finish then a cold drink outside the hugely impressive clubhouse and either reminisce or forget about the round just played.
