Central Portugal has a vast number of beautiful towns and villages rich in culture, and gastronomy that you just shouldn’t miss when visiting the area. Two of our favourite towns are Viseu and Óbidos.

The hilltop city of Viseu has been distinguished three times so far as the best city to live in Portugal. A truly noble city, made of granite and flowers, it is located in the inland area of Central Portugal. Viseu is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage and architecture with its imposing houses, and outstanding monuments.

There are many stories to unveil with testimonies of a deeply inspiring past. The museums of Viseu are unique places that testify to the city’s historical grandeur. Viseu is also the perfect destination for foodies and wine enthusiasts. There are countless restaurants where you can have truly delicious meals, paired with a range of outstanding Dão wines.

Most of these golf courses are very close to Óbidos, a romantic town that is a book lover ́s dream. Once a medieval fortress surrounded by a 12th-century wall, Óbidos invites you to wander and explore the cheerful ambiance of winding streets and old whitewashed houses where the sunset takes on a golden hue.

And it is in the Óbidos region where the best beaches on the West Coast are located: between two surf meccas, Ericeira and Peniche, where there is a set of outstanding, yet quiet, sandy beaches with wild cliffs shaping the Atlantic coastline.
