Opening in 1966, Penina is the spiritual home of golf in the Algarve. Sir Henry Cotton designed the Penina Championship Course and it was the first 18 hole course to open in the Algarve. It has been a regular venue for the European PGA Tour’s Portuguese Open; a true testament to its impeccable quality.
Conveniently for guests at this hotel, the first tee is just a few yards from the hotel, and the course is an excellent test of golf with tree lined lush green fairways, water hazards, bunkers, big greens and large teeing areas. The Penina Resort Golf Course, with it’s 9 greens and 18 tees is not as long as the Championship golf course, however it still poses as a good challenge to the best of golfers and complements the Championship course.
