Top Golf Courses in Alvor for Your Portugal Golf Holiday
Alamos Golf Course:
This golf course in Portugal offers a lovely secluded location with great views and local Monchique Mountain range. The clubhouse is shared with Morgado golf course, providing a lovely outside patio area overlooking Morgado and the practice area. Though Alamos is the shortest course out of the three that belong to Nau Hotels it is by no means the easiest for a good score. The 10th hole is a great example, with a short and narrow par 4 and a water hazard along the left-hand side that cuts in front of the green about 25 yards out, providing a daunting approach shot.
Morgado Golf Course:
This course is incredibly idyllic with its rural setting providing a peaceful atmosphere. Morgado is one to be enjoyed by all levels of golfers, with big generous fairways although look out for the greens guarded by huge bunkers. The first nine holes are fairly straightforward, whereas the back nine meander into the hills where the course becomes a little more testing, so take advantage of their excellent practice facilities.
Penina – Championship Course:
Penina – Championship Course was the first ever golf course built in the Algarve, inspiring many others to also build courses in this region. Penina Championship golf course has quite the reputation for being one of the most challenging courses Portugal has to offer. For this reason it has hosted events such as the Portuguese Open on several occasions. Penina also boasts the wonderful par-3 13th hole, which has been ranked as one of the top 500 holes in the world!
