Laranjal means orange grove in Portuguese which is what was originally here before the course was built in 2009. There are few nods to the past on your way round with some orange trees lining the course as well as other vegetation such as umbrella pines and cork trees.
The standard of this course is hard to beat with incredibly fine white marble sand in the bunkers and precision-cut definition across the course. The greens are pure and you will find you need to take time to check the direction of the grain and how it has been rolled so you can adjust your pace accordingly.
The signature hole has to be the par 5 7th hole which measure over 560 yards from the tips. It has a spilt fairway with water down the right of the first fairway as well as a body of water to left of the green. Only the brave will attempt to get home in 2 on this hole.
This is a stunning setting for one of the Algarve’s best courses. We highly recommend adding this to your itinerary it will not disappoint and is definitely a course to tick of your bucket list.
