Things to do

Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew, Bangkok

One of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks, the Grand Palace is a spectacular complex that has been at the heart of Thai royal history since 1782. Within its walls is Wat Phra Kaew, home to the Emerald Buddha, one of Thailand’s most revered religious images. The intricate architecture, golden temples and richly decorated halls make this an essential cultural experience for visitors enjoying a Bangkok golf holiday.

Wat Pho & The Reclining Buddha, Bangkok

Located just south of the Grand Palace, Wat Pho is one of the oldest and largest temple complexes in Bangkok. It is best known for the enormous Reclining Buddha, which stretches 46 metres in length and is covered in gold leaf. The temple is also considered the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, making it a relaxing and fascinating stop during a stay in Bangkok.

Chao Phraya River Boat Experience, Bangkok

A boat journey along the Chao Phraya River offers a memorable way to experience Bangkok from the water. Travelling by river ferry or traditional long-tail boat, visitors pass historic temples, riverside communities and some of the city’s most famous hotels. It provides a different perspective of the Thai capital and is a popular sightseeing experience alongside golf in Bangkok.

Bangkok Street Food & Dining Scene

Bangkok is widely regarded as one of the world’s great food cities. From vibrant street markets in Chinatown to stylish rooftop restaurants overlooking the skyline, the city offers an incredible variety of dining experiences. Whether sampling authentic Thai dishes or enjoying fine dining after a round of golf, Bangkok delivers outstanding cuisine at every level.

Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin’s long sandy beach stretches along the Gulf of Thailand and is one of the resort’s most appealing natural attractions. The relaxed coastal setting makes it ideal for a morning walk, a swim in the warm sea or simply unwinding after a day on the golf course. Its laid-back atmosphere is one of the reasons Hua Hin remains a favourite destination for Thailand golf holidays.

Hua Hin Night Market

Hua Hin Night Market is one of the town’s most popular evening attractions. Located in the centre of town, it offers a lively atmosphere with food stalls, seafood restaurants and local craft vendors. Visitors can enjoy freshly prepared Thai dishes while browsing stalls selling souvenirs and handmade goods.

Hua Hin Railway Station

Hua Hin Railway Station has long been one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks. Although a new elevated station now serves modern trains, the historic red-and-cream wooden station building and the Royal Waiting Room pavilion remain preserved nearby. These heritage structures are among the most photographed sights in Hua Hin.

Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park

Around an hour south of Hua Hin lies Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, one of Thailand’s most scenic coastal landscapes. The park is known for its limestone mountains, wetlands and quiet beaches, with the famous Phraya Nakhon Cave being a highlight. Inside the cave sits a small royal pavilion illuminated by natural sunlight, creating one of the most remarkable sights in Thailand.

If there’s anything else you’d like to know, you can ask a question

International Flights

Most visitors arrive in Thailand via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, the main international gateway to the country. The airport is around 30 minutes from central Bangkok hotels depending on traffic.

Transfers

Private transfers are typically arranged between the airport, hotels and golf courses. This ensures a smooth and comfortable journey, particularly when travelling with golf clubs.

Bangkok to Hua Hin Travel

The journey from Bangkok to Hua Hin takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours by road. Travelling by private transfer is the most convenient option for golfers, allowing door-to-door transport between hotels.

Climate

Thailand has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year. The most popular period for Thailand golf holidays is from November to April, when conditions are generally dry and comfortable for golf.

Entry Requirements

UK visitors can usually enter Thailand visa-free for tourism, with passports valid for at least six months beyond the date of arrival.

Currency

The local currency is the Thai Baht. Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and golf resorts, though carrying some cash is useful for smaller purchases.

Language

Thai is the official language of Thailand, but English is widely spoken in Bangkok, Hua Hin and other popular tourist areas. Hotels, golf clubs, restaurants and attractions are well accustomed to international visitors, so communication is generally straightforward throughout a Thailand golf holiday.

Time Zone

Thailand operates on Indochina Time (ICT), which is 7 hours ahead of GMT and 6 hours ahead of the UK during British Summer Time. There is no daylight saving time in Thailand, making it easy to adjust when travelling from the UK for a Bangkok and Hua Hin golf holiday.
