About

About Druids Glen Golf Course

Opened in 1995, Druids Glen has long been one of the standout parkland courses in Ireland.

The scenery is a big part of the appeal. Mature trees frame the fairways, water features regularly come into play and the planting gives the course a distinctive look and feel.

It is polished and scenic, but there is enough challenge to keep you thinking from the opening tee to the final green.

Following a major restoration, the course reopened in June 2023 as a 7,222-yard, par-72 layout with newly built greens and improved drainage.

Irish Open History

Druids Glen hosted the Irish Open for four consecutive years from 1996 to 1999.

Colin Montgomerie won in 1996 and 1997, David Carter took the title in 1998 and Sergio Garcia claimed his first worldwide tour victory here in 1999.

The course also hosted the Seve Trophy in 2002, adding another memorable chapter to its tournament history.

Standout Holes

The downhill par-three 12th is the signature hole.

Golfers play over a colourful bank of flowers shaped like a Celtic Cross towards a green framed by the surrounding landscape. It is one of the most recognisable holes on the course and a highlight of the round.

Where to Stay

The natural hotel pairing is Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort, the five-star hotel within the resort.

With the course, spa, indoor pool and restaurants all close by, it is an easy base for a relaxed stay-and-play break.

Pair It with Druids Heath

The neighbouring Druids Heath course offers a very different kind of round.

Where Druids Glen is tree-lined and traditional, Druids Heath is more open and exposed, with firm fairways, elevated greens, pot bunkers and views towards the Irish Sea and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Playing both gives golfers two contrasting courses without needing to leave the resort.

When to Play

Druids Glen is an excellent choice from spring through to autumn, when longer days make it easier to enjoy the course and the wider resort at a relaxed pace.

For golfers planning a wider Ireland golf holiday, it works particularly well alongside the coastal courses around Dublin.
