Golf de Moliets
The Golf de Moilets course, created by Robert Trent Jones in 1989, is widely considered to be one of the most enjoyable 18-hole courses in the country, and one of the top 25 courses in Europe. Golfers will consistently find themselves kept on their toes with the varied landscape of this course; no hole is remotely similar to another.
Located on the coast of the Basque region, surrounded by pine trees and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the course could not have a better setting. Conveniently for players, the Golf de Moilets course is playable all year round due to being built on flat sandy soil and the mild Southern France climate. Admittedly, the Championship course of Golf de Moliets is the furthest course from the Biarritz group, however the drive through the Landes countryside should not deter you; a round on this course is well worth the journey.
Set out in a pine forest, this course invites the golfer for a round of varied play with 13 holes weaving through the idyllic pine forest, and 5 holes lining the stunning France coastline. The front nine holes of this course have been carved into the surrounding pine forest, with only a glimpse of the sea able to be seen from the 6th to 8th holes. With the fairways densely lined with pine trees, you must play with caution in order to stop them swallowing up your score! Trent has emphasised his varied style by incorporating a links-feel style to the par-3 12th hole and par-3 16th which are played through the dunes on the beach.

The Golf de Moilets is a test for the most skilful golfer, with no hole bearing a resemblance to another in a varied landscape. However this should not deter a player of a higher handicap; all golfers are welcome here due to the wide fairways. Whilst the most skilled players will find this course to be an invigorating challenge, amateurs can choose to play from the forward tees to lessen the chances of error. However, all players irrespective of their skillset must be aware of the famous jagged bunkers, as they could seriously hinder your scorecard if not careful; three of these bunkers are blind.
With its varied nature and stunning scenery, it comes as no surprise that in 2012 the PGA classified the Golf de Moilets course as the 6th best course in France, and it is also ranked as one of the 22 best golf courses in the Rolex French Guide. Overall, Golf de Moilets is a divine course, and makes an ideal golfing destination in Southern France.
